My goal is to represent the U.S.A. at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim. En route to this goal, I must travel the world and compete on the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup circuit.
I know that I can win this circuit in 2014 and become one of the Top Three professional marathon swimmers in the world in the road to Rio in 2016.
In 2011, I won a bronze medal at the FINA World Championships in the 5 km race and a gold medal in the 5 km Team Pursuit.
In 2012, I just missed qualifying for the Olympics by my American friend and teammate who then went on to miss out the gold medal by 0.4 seconds at the 2012 London Olympics.
So in my heart, I know representing America at the 2016 Rio Olympics is a realistic goal. But I need your help.
The FINA World Cup professional circuit is the fastest, toughest marathon swimming series in the world with 7 races in Mexico, Portugal, Hong Kong and Canada.
As a professional, I must travel to these locations on my own budget.
In addition, I competed in races from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of my training while training out of North Carolina.
I will also write articles on the sport for Swimming World Magazine and the Daily News of Open Water Swimming and will be featured in the Open Water Swimming Magazine.
The lifestyle is challenging and the pressure is constant to perform well, but I am hungry to compete in 2014 and beyond against the world’s best swimmers.
In order to reach my goal of stand a top the Olympic podium, I need your help.
With your financial help (or airline miles or rental car vouchers), I can focus on my training and become one of the world’s best professional swimmers.
With your help, I can represent the sport as well as possible.
